AI FOR GOOD PLATFORM, 23 June 2021 at 3PM (CET)

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is hugely overlooked by the Western mainstream when it comes to discussing the future of artificial intelligence. Recognizing the vital importance of diversity in the global debate on what AI is and should be, this event marks the launch of the report “Imagining a Future with Intelligent Machines: A Middle Eastern and North African Perspective” (2021).

The event, co-organised by the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence at the University of Cambridge and the Access to Knowledge for Development Center at the American University in Cairo's School of Business, brings together regional experts and authors of the Report to examine the visions of technological futures spreading in the Arab world and how they relate to on-the-ground realities of AI development in MENA.

Confirmed speakers include: Prof Nagla Rizk, Founding Director of A2K4D, Dr Kanta Dihal, Senior Research Fellow at CFI and Co-PI of the Global AI Narratives Project, and Prof Mohamed Zahran, Clinical Professor of Computer Science at NYU

The AI for Good series is the leading action-oriented, global & inclusive United Nations platform on AI. The Summit is organized all year, always online, in Geneva by the ITU with XPRIZE Foundation in partnership with over 35 sister United Nations agencies, Switzerland and ACM. The goal is to identify practical applications of AI and scale those solutions for global impact.
